Drawn To Art
My studio is on our farm in the Central Tablelands NSW. Over many years, I have sought to learn and practice various visual art forms including primarily drawing and painting in different media and print making.
My earliest artist that influenced me at school was William Dobell because of the sensitive depiction of the human figure. I now have a wide appreciation of many artists from the old masters to impressionists, fauvists, throughout the ages. I love the beauty of form whether figurative, architectural or still life.
I am drawn to how the eye appreciates form in line, tone, and marking as long as it holds expression which comes from the artist's perception of the subject.
The endless pursuit of an art practice keeps artists desiring to improve and diversify.
Art, like nature, in its many forms takes us to a space that centres on one's feelings and thoughts away from the mundane aspects of life.
